Car accident in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A motorcyclist has been detained following a high-speed chase that ended in a collision on Interstate 75. The incident took place on Thursday shortly before 4:30 p.m. when Georgia State Patrol officers observed the individual zigzagging through traffic which was nearly stationary on the Northbound lanes close to University Avenue.

The biker’s perilous maneuvers persisted despite the congestion. When officers attempted to conduct an emergency stop to apprehend the motorcyclist, the individual fled, continuing to weave in and out of lanes at speed.

The chase unfolded along the I-75 Northbound stretch where the motorcyclist was seen tailgating a car too closely, ultimately colliding with the vehicle. The impact from the crash resulted in the motorcyclist being transported to Grady Trauma Center, where they were reported to be in stable condition upon arrival.

Authorities from the Georgia State Patrol stated that the motorcyclist has been charged with several offenses, including reckless driving, improper lane change, and following another vehicle too closely. Furthermore, an additional warrant is being sought for the offense of fleeing or attempting to elude police officers. It was confirmed that there was no contact between the state patrol vehicle and the motorcycle at any point during the pursuit.
