In Effingham County early Tuesday morning, a stolen car led to a high-speed pursuit that culminated in a head-on collision with a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle.
The chase began near Zittrouer Road at approximately 7:30 a.m., when a 16-year-old suspect took a car without permission and fled the scene. The pursuit proceeded to Highway 17 and Blue Jay Road, where the young driver crashed into a patrol car in the roundabout.
The deputy involved in the collision suffered minor injuries. Remarkably, the young driver emerged without harm despite the violent impact. Subsequently, the teenager was apprehended and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, vehicle theft, attempting to elude police, reckless operation of a vehicle, and speeding violations.
