Car accident in Savannah

In Effingham County early Tuesday morning, a stolen car led to a high-speed pursuit that culminated in a head-on collision with a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle.

The chase began near Zittrouer Road at approximately 7:30 a.m., when a 16-year-old suspect took a car without permission and fled the scene. The pursuit proceeded to Highway 17 and Blue Jay Road, where the young driver crashed into a patrol car in the roundabout.

The deputy involved in the collision suffered minor injuries. Remarkably, the young driver emerged without harm despite the violent impact.
